Do I need a referral?
Self-referrals and referrals from GPs or other specialists are welcome. If you are using private medical insurance, check whether your insurer requires a referral and obtain authorisation before booking.
Will I necessarily need surgery?
No. The first step is to understand the diagnosis. Your plan may include observation, rehabilitation, pain management, investigations or surgery, depending on your condition and goals.
Can I have a virtual consultation?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available for suitable discussions and follow-up. A face-to-face examination may still be necessary before a diagnosis or treatment plan can be confirmed.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring relevant clinic letters, scan reports and images, nerve test results, your medication list and a short timeline of symptoms. Ask the practice how to share medical records securely.
Do you see both adults and children?
Mr Simpson assesses adults and children with brachial plexus and peripheral nerve conditions, including birth-related brachial plexus injuries.

Virtual consultations
Useful for selected discussions and reviews. An in-person examination may still be needed. Choose a quiet, private space and have your records available.
When symptoms are urgent
