Mr Simpson is a Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon in the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
His practice includes traumatic and birth-related brachial plexus injuries, nerve compression, thoracic outlet syndrome, nerve sheath tumours and nerve injuries associated with surgery. He also treats the functional consequences of established nerve injuries.

Neuroscience & medicine
Mr Simpson studied Neuroscience and Medicine at St John’s College, University of Cambridge, with clinical studies at St Bartholomew’s and The London School of Medicine.
His postgraduate studies include trauma science, medical education and clinical data science.
Cologne, Germany
European Space Agency
After graduating from university, Mr Simpson worked at the Astronaut Training Centre of the European Space Agency in Cologne, Germany. He then returned to the UK to begin academic surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
The Percivall Pott programme
Mr Simpson undertook Trauma and Orthopaedic training in London on the renowned Percivall Pott programme. During this period, he spent 12 months training in peripheral nerve surgery.
Dual fellowship training
He completed fellowships in soft tissue reconstruction of the upper and lower limbs in Perth, Western Australia, and complex upper limb surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.
Consultant practice
Previously a Trauma and Upper Limb Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’, he subsequently joined the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
Research & professional contribution
His research interests include nerve reconstruction, diagnostic assessment, upper limb pathology and artificial intelligence in clinical care and education.
